- The Durham Bulls have activated the Montoyos Family Fund to match dollar for dollar up to $10,000 to help the Durham Bulls Manager and his family pay for their newborn son's care. Alexander, was born with Ebsteins Anomaly, a heart defect in which the tricuspid valve is abnormally formed.
- Duke University's Divinity School has received a $14 million grant from Lilly Endowment for a new program that helps develop Christian leaders.
- Duke University Medical Center and UNC Chapel Hill are teaming up in a $7 million statewide shaken baby prevention project, the largest and most comprehensive in the country.
- Developer D.R. Bryan and Partners have dealt another 299 acres of north Durham land to the Triangle Land Conservancy, bringing the total to 1,361. Some 92 acres is destined to enhance Historic Stagville, one of Durham's three State historic sites.
